Entrust figures are taken from their own published material - entrust.com identity verification pages and Onfido acquisition material, checked September 2026. Anything they state about themselves and we cannot verify is marked “their claim”. Where a row reads “not published”, the information was not publicly available at that date, not that it does not exist.
When to choose TamperCheck
- You already have capture and onboarding and only need a deep tamper + AI adjudication pass on the file bytes.
- You want managed AI inference, published $/document economics, and an ephemeral document story without buying a full IDV suite.
- You’re building internal or B2B tools where a lightweight verdict endpoint beats rolling out consumer-grade liveness flows.
When to choose Entrust
- You need regulated KYC out of the box: liveness, face match, watchlists, and vendor attestations for identity programs.
- Your product is consumer onboarding and you want mobile SDKs + hosted journeys, not only server-side PDF analysis.
- Procurement wants a named global IDV backed by an established enterprise security vendor, with broad country coverage and enterprise support SLAs.
Full identity suite vs. specialist document forensics
Entrust's natural buyer is building identity verification as a capability: who is this person, does the selfie match the ID, is the session real? That buyer question didn't change when Entrust acquired Onfido in 2024 - the same document-and-biometric IDV stack is now sold as part of a larger identity and security portfolio (PKI, certificates, secure issuance) rather than as a standalone product. TamperCheck's buyer is asking a narrower technical question: is this PDF or image internally consistent, and what looks edited or AI-generated?
You might even use both: Entrust (or similar) for the identity journey, and TamperCheck when you want forensic depth and control on the exact file your risk team is arguing about. The differentiator is whether you're purchasing platform identity or a focused tamper API.
TamperCheck vs Entrust: common questions
Is TamperCheck an alternative to Entrust's identity verification product?
For document authenticity, yes - and for identity verification, no. Entrust Identity Verification answers whether a person is who they claim to be. TamperCheck answers whether a document is what it claims to be, including the bank statements, payslips and certificates that never pass through an onboarding session at all.
What happened to Onfido - is it the same as Entrust?
Onfido was acquired by Entrust in April 2024. Its document and biometric identity verification technology is the same lineage, now sold as Entrust Identity Verification inside Entrust's broader portfolio of identity and security products rather than as a standalone company. Anyone evaluating "Onfido" today is evaluating Entrust's product and sales process.
Can I use Entrust and TamperCheck together?
Yes, and many teams do. Entrust (or any IDV vendor) handles the identity journey at signup; TamperCheck handles every document that arrives afterwards - income proof, address proof, invoices, credentials - with per-field tamper analysis and AI-generation detection. They cover different halves of the trust chain.
Which one detects AI-generated documents?
TamperCheck runs a dedicated AI-generation and deepfake pass on every upload and localises the finding to the individual field. An IDV platform's document checks are built around the capture session and identity documents; documents submitted by email or through your own forms are outside that flow entirely.
